Weekend Recap: Magic Sweep the Chill

The Magicians got back on the right track this weekend with a sweep over the Coulee Region Chill. The Magicians are now 5-0 against the Chill this season.

On Thursday night, the Magicians traveled to the Coulee Region and picked up a 3-2 road-victory. Calvin Dybicz scored the game-winning goal in the third period and Saville earned the win in net with 39 saves.

Saturday at home, the offense came alive! The Magicians we able to tally six goals, including two from Edina native Bram Scheerer, to complete the sweep over the Chill. Saville was once again picked up the win in net, stopping 33 of 36 shots he faced.

3 Stars of the Weekend:

1st Star: Calvin Dybicz – 2 goals 1 assists

Calvin Dybicz might have had his best weekend as a Magician. He picked up the game-winning goal on Thursday night and had a goal and assist on Saturday night. Dybicz is a former Milwaukee Jr. Admiral and a Michigan State recruit.

2nd Star: Bram Scheerer 2 goals

The former Edina Hornet Bram Scheerer scored two goals in the Magicians 6-3 win on Saturday night. He now has 10 points in 15 games for the Magic. Scheerer is committed to play his college hockey at Colorado College.

3rd Star: Jarrett Lee – 1 goal 2 assist

Lee always finds a way to get himself on the stat sheet. He an assist Thursday and a goal and assist on Saturday night, including the game-winning goal. Lee is second on the team in points with 20.

Honorable Mentions: Matt Denman (2 assists), Brendan Skarda (2 assists), Keranen (1 goal 1 assist)

What’s Next?

The Magicians will have four straight games at Richfield Ice Arena. Next weekend, the first place, Fairbanks Ice Dogs will come to town.

Friday night is Toys for Tots night. Bring a toy to donate to the Toys for Tots campaign as Magicians try to help the kids in need this holiday season.

Saturday is Star Wars night and we need your help to pack the house! We want to see Jedis, Darth Vaders, R2_D2s, and Stormtroopers! Darth Vader and Chewbacca will stop by for the puck drop and intermission activities! It’s the Light side vs. Dark side vs. the Magic side!
