Weekend Preview: The Ice Dogs Come to Town

This weekend the Magicians will welcome the first place, Fairbanks Ice Dogs into town for a two-game series at Richfield Ice Arena. The Magicians are coming off a sweep over the Coulee Region Chill and would love to pick up a couple wins against the Ice Dogs, who they are chasing the standings. The Magic have a record of 14-10-2 (30 points) and in third place in the Midwest Division.

About the Ice Dogs:

The Ice Dogs are 7-3-0 in their last ten games and with 35 points, sit at top of the Midwest Division. Only the Philadelphia Rebels and the Shreveport Mudbugs have more point then the Ice Dogs in the NAHL.

Ice Dogs To Watch:

#19 Forward Hunter Wendt – Wendt has an impressive 62 career points in the NAHL, including 24 points in 25 games this season. Wendt is on a hot streak as he has seven points in his last four games.

#10 Forward Tanner Schachle – Schachle is an Alaska native and committed to play college hockey at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He is third on the team in points with 23 (10 goals 13 assists) including a team-leading five power-play goals.

Who’s Hot for the Magic?

Calvin Dybicz – Dybicz was the Magician of the Week for his two goals, an assist, and a +6 rating performance last weekend against the Chill. He has 8 points in 17 games since joining the Magicians’ blueline.

Jarrett Lee – It’s hard taking Jarrett Lee out of this section of the preview and … I couldn’t do it this week either. Lee was tabbed as an Honorable Mention for the NAHL Forward of the Month. He tallied six goals, four assists, and +5 rating in the month of November, stay hot kid!

Isaiah Saville – Saville was also mentioned as an Honorable Mention in the NAHL Goaltender of the Month. In November, Saville had five wins, .939 save percentage, and 2.24 goals against average.

Dec. 8th Toys for Tots: Brings to toys to donate to the Toys for Tots Foundation

Dec. 9th Star Wars Night: Dress up with all your Star Wars gear. Darth Vader, Storm Troopers, and Jedi, we want to see it all. The Magicians will be wearing special Star Wars themed jerseys that will be auction off at the end of the night.

Dec. 15th Date Night: Time to bring your special some to Magicians game.

Dec. 16th Teddy Bear Toss: One of the best nights of the year all we encourage our fans to bring as many teddy bears/stuff animals they can to throw onto the ice after the Magicians score their first goal. Teddy bears will then be collected and donated to the Minnesota Children’s Hospitals and Clinics! #TeddyMagic

Congrats to Minnesota Magicians defenseman, Matt Denman, on being called up to the USHL. Denman played his first USHL game last night for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. Best of luck to Matt Denman, his presence will be missed on the Magicians’ blueline.
