The Wisconsin Windigo are a Tier II Junior hockey club playing at Eagle River Sports Arena in Eagle River, WI. Formed in 2010, the team originally was called the New Mexico Mustangs. After two seasons in Rio Rancho, NM, the club was granted ‘inactive’ status by the North American Hockey League (NAHL). On December 21, 2012 the league announced that the Mustangs’ franchise had been acquired by the Minnesota Junior Hockey Group and would relocate to Richfield for the 2013–14 season. After nine seasons in Richfield the team was purchased by Copper Island Hockey Club, LLC and relocated to Eagle River in May of 2022.
Over 90 players have committed to NCAA programs since 2014, including more than 60 at the Division I level, in addition to three alumni have been drafted by NHL teams.
Our mission is to develop our athletes into quality young men. Our goal is to provide an organized platform, through professional instruction, to help leverage one’s career at the collegiate level. Our management and coaching staffs are held to the highest standard of accountability to help guide our athletes to succeed. We offer a positive environment both on and off the ice, ensuring our athletes have the best junior hockey experience possible.
