Bucchino Named Magicians Head Coach for 2018-19

Richfield, MN – The Minnesota Magicians of the North American Hockey League are pleased to announce A.J. Bucchino as the Head Coach/General Manager for the 2018-19 season.

Most recently, A.J. was the Head Coach at Lakeville South High School in Lakeville, MN for the past three seasons. At Lakeville South, he had a record of 48-34-4 and lead the team to the Minnesota State High School Tournament in 2017.  A.J. is also involved in the Minnesota IceMen and Ice Cougars AAA Hockey Program.

Before A.J. began his coaching career, he played four seasons of professional hockey in the East Coast Hockey League, Central Hockey League, and Southern Professional Hockey League.

Born in White Plains, New York, he began his playing career attending Tilton and Avon Old Farms Prep School.  A.J. then finished high school in the USHL with the Des Moines Buccaneers.  After a season at the University of New Hampshire, A.J. transferred to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where he was a two-time NCAA All-American helping his team win two WIAC Championships (2006 and 2007) and one NCHA Championship (2007).

“AJ brings a new mentally and determination that we feel will have a positive impact on our program,” said Magicians Owner Scott Krueger. “We are excited to add AJ to our coaching staff and can’t wait to see what the future looks like for the Magicians.”

Interim Head Coach, Ben Weiand will finish the season with the Magicians.  “We will continue to support Ben as our team pushes for the playoffs.  We thank him for his time and effort with our organization.,” said Magicians’ President and Owner Ron Beran.
