Denis Shevyrin to Compete at World Juniors

Dec 9, 2014

The Minnesota Magicians are proud to announce that veteran forward Denis Shevyrin will skate for team Germany in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championships in Canada later this month.  This will be the 3rd trip to the World Junior Championships for Shevyrin, who previously competed in the U18 division of the event in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.  Shevyrin has been a member of the Magicians since the franchise’s inaugural year and has appeared in 77 games thus far in his North American Hockey League (NAHL) career.  His career statistical totals include 6 goals, 11 assists, and a total of 17 points.

Magicians Head Coach and General Manager, Tom Upton, had this to say about Shevyrin, “We are extremely happy and proud for Denis to join team Germany in the World Juniors this year. His character and the way he conducts himself has helped him gain this opportunity. On the ice he has done a great job for us in not only impacting our team in a positive way but also taking a leadership role on the ice as someone who can help our younger players by communicating with them and also leading by example. We could not be more excited for him.

Shevyrin will be joining former Magicians forward Marc Michaelis, who recently made the jump to the United States Hockey League (USHL), on team Germany.  The tournament begins on December 26th and Team Germany will play its first game on December 27th against Team Canada at the Belle Center in Montreal, Quebec.
