The Minnesota Magicians (25-17-5) hit the road for a two-week trip to Alaska this week to visit the two NAHL franchises located in the northernmost US state. Upcoming this weekend, the Magicians will play two games at the Soldotna Regional Athletic Complex to play the Kenai River Brown Bears (10-36-2). Next, the Magicians will play the Fairbanks Ice Dogs (23-23-3) in a two-game series on March 10th and 11th at Big Dipper Ice Arena. When they aren’t playing games on their long road trip, the Magicians will hold practices and visit tourist destinations throughout the state of Alaska.

Before embarking on their trip Wednesday, several Magicians players will be participating in the annual NAHL Top Prospects event in Plymouth, Michigan on February 27th & 28th. Forwards Mitch Slattery (Lino Lakes, MN) and Will Hammer (St. Cloud, MN), defensemen Pieter von Steinbergs (Minnetonka, MN) and Hunter Lellig (Waterloo, IA), and goaltenders Ivan Prosvetov (Moscow, Russia), and Jake Acton (Livermore, CA) will represent the Magicians at the event, which draws hundreds of NHL and NCAA scouts.

The Magicians return home on March 17th and 18th in a series with the Division leading Janesville Jets (36-9-3) at Richfield Ice Arena. The Magicians currently sit in 2nd place in the division and could clinch themselves a playoff berth with a successful road trip in Alaska.
