Magicians Eye Second Round Playoff Series

The Minnesota Magicians swept the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the first round of the Robertson Cup playoffs and look forward to this weekends match up vs the Kenai River Brown Bears.  Games 1 and 2 will be Friday June 4th and Saturday June 5th at Richfield Ice Arena.

“It was a great team effort in the sweep of the Ice Dogs” said Head coach Stu Bickel.  “Everyone worked so hard to wrap up the first series in 3 games.”  The Magicians were lead by Lleyton Roed who finished with 5 pts (2g, 3a) on the weekend followed by Brett Oberle (2g, 2A) and Gavin Best (4a) who each tallied 4 points each.  Seven other Magician players followed with 3 points showing the strength and depth the team has coming into this weekend.  Goaltender Andy Beran lead the way between the pipes for the Magic going 3-0 on the weekend with a 2.89 Goals Against and a whopping 93 save percentage.

The Magicians will face the Kenai River Brown Bears who ousted the Janesville Jets in 4 games to earn their first ever trip to the second round of the Robertson Cup Playoffs.  The Brown Bears were backstopped by Luke Pavicich who went 3-1 in the first round series and posted a 92 save percentage vs the Jets.  The Brown Bears were lead up front by Max Helgeson and Lucas Wahlin who each posted 5 point efforts on the series win.

The puck drops Friday and Saturday at 7pm.  Tickets are available at the door starting at 6pm.
