Magicians Pick Up 2 Points in Janesville; Teddy Toss Up Next

Dec 12, 2016

The Minnesota Magicians came home from a two-game series in Janesville, Wisconsin with 2 out of 4 possible points in the standings despite falling in both contests to the Midwest Division leading Jets. On both Friday and Saturday nights the Magicians skated toe-to-toe with the Jets, who have the 2nd best record in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), but were ultimately defeated in shootouts in each game.

Magicians forwards Tanner Tweten and Mitch Slattery excelled over the weekend, with each picking up multiple points. Tweten, the East Grand Forks, Minnesota native had a goal and two assists as he continues to thrive after returning to the Magicians following a short stint in the United States Hockey League (USHL) earlier this year. Slattery, from Lino Lakes, continued to display his scoring touch by picking up his team-leading 26th and 27th points of the year with a goal and an assist.

Up next for the Magicians is the team’s 4th Annual Teddy Toss benefiting Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota on Friday December 16th at 7:00 PM at Richfield Ice Arena. Fans are encouraged to bring new teddy bears and other plush toys to the game and toss them onto the ice after the first Magicians goal of the evening. All donations will be hand delivered to the hospitals by Magicians players and staff members.

Speaking about the event, Magicians Director of Team Operations Joe Scanlon said, “The Teddy Toss has become one of our signature nights each season and we are looking forward to another great event this year. Partnering with the local community to benefit a world-class organization in Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota is an honor, and we would really like to thank all of our fans and supporters for making it happen.”
