Magicians Pre Season Preview

Sep 11, 2019

The Magicians kicked off the 2019-2020 NAHL season last week with the start of team practices and an intersquad scrimmage to aid in determining final roster spots on Saturday night. We saw a fair amount of scoring as team black defeated team red 5-2 in a game much closer than the final score. A game set in tryout manner was expected to have a high amount of intensity and grit which was shown from both benches all night long, eventually leading to some grappling later in the final period. All in all a great amount of effort and talent was shown from all of the Magicians players and Magicians fans should be excited for the talent they will see in the Magi Jersey’s this season. Many goals were scored from both new and returning Magic players including Colin Stein, Freddie Macchiocchi, Laz Kaebel (2), Josh Bolin, Lucas Kanta, Colin West.

The Magicians are looking to build on their efforts from Saturday night’s in-house matchup with another full week of practice before their first series of preseason exhibition games this weekend against their in state rival, the Austin Bruins. The Magicians will travel down to Austin, Minnesota for a 7pm tilt against the Bruins on Friday evening, but are back home at the Richfield Ice Arena Saturday night at 7:05pm for their first real home matchup of the season. Coaches AJ Bucchino and Gaven Bickford are excited to use these exhibition games to test their players and narrow down their roster down before the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN starting September 18th. Tickets for the Saturday night’s home game against the Bruins can be purchased at the door for $5!
