Magicians Recap – 3 Stars of the Weekend

The Magicians took part in a three-game series against divisional opponent Springfield Jr. Blues this weekend. The Magicians were able to pick up 5 points, including getting at least a point in every game. Thursday night, we saw the Magic come back from down three goals to win 5-4 in overtime. Friday, once again we went to overtime but the Magic came up on the short-end of the stick, losing 4-3 in OT. The Magicians were able to take the rubber-match on Saturday with a 3-1 victory. Overall, a very solid weekend for the Magic, 5 points in three games helping them climb to 4th in the Midwest Division.

3 Stars of the Weekend:

1st Star: George McBey – 2 wins 63 saves .969 SV%

Goaltender, George McBey came on in relief on Thursday and had 32 saves on 33 shots and helped the Magicians pull out an overtime win. On Saturday night, he started in the cage and had 31 saves in Magic’s 3-1 victory.

2nd Star: Jarrett Lee – 1 Goal 3 Assists

Lee was the hero in Thursday night’s win. Lee skated into the zone with just a few seconds left in OT and fired a puck right by Springfield’s netminder to give the Magic the win. Lee finished with a goal and two assist on Thursday plus he add another assist Saturday night too.

3rd Star: John Keranen – 2 Goals 1 Assist

Keranen scored the game-tying goal on Friday night to allow the Magicians to pick up a point in OT. He also netted the game-winning goal for the Magic on Saturday night.

Bram Scheerer – 2 goals 2 assists

Kyler Grundy – 1 goal 3 assists

What’s Next?

The Magicians now embark on an eight-game road trip starting with five games in Alaska (2 vs. Fairbanks, 3 vs. Kenai River) and then finishing with three in Wisconsin (2 vs. Janesville, 1 vs. Coulee Region). The Magicians will finally be back home on November 10th vs. the Minnesota Wilderness.
