Apr 19, 2017

The Minnesota Magicians are excited to announce that defenseman Ben Schultheis has signed a tender agreement with the team for next season. Schultheis played his most recent season with Honeybaked U16 of the High Performance Hockey League (HPHL).

A native of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Schultheis has had stops with multiple high profile programs throughout his young career. He played Bantam hockey with the TPH Thunder program from 2014-15 before graduating to the TPH U16 AAA team (T1EHL) for the 2015-16 season. Most recently, the defenseman played 17 games with Honeybaked U16 (HPHL), where his team advanced to the Semifinal Round in this year’s National Tournament. Additionally, Schultheis was invited to play two games with the U.S. National U17 team during the ‘16-17 season.

Speaking about what Schultheis will bring to the Magicians roster next year, Assistant Coach Ben Weiand noted, “Ben was a steady two way contributor and had a great season with Honeybaked at the Midget level and we are excited to get a talented player who can play in all scenarios.”
