Max Martin Commits to Bowling Green State University

Windigo co-captain Max Martin has accepted a commitment from  Bowling Green State University to play NCAA  Division-1 hockey for the Falcons commencing next season.  Bowling Green has a rich tradition in college hockey and competes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA).  Martin is a native of Tawas City, MI.  He currently leads the NAHL in goals (24) and total points (56).

From the NAHL release regarding Max’s commitment to Bowling Green:

The Wisconsin Windigo of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward and NAPHL alum Max Martin has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Bowling Green State University in the CCHA. 

Martin, 20, is currently in his third and final season playing junior hockey and second season playing in the NAHL. The 5’11/190 lbs native of Tawas City, MI, is currently leading the entire NAHL in scoring with 56 points (24 goals, 32 assists) in 33 games played. 

“I am super excited and honored to announce my commitment to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at Bowling Green State University. I would like to give a huge thank you to my family, coaches, teammates, friends, and everyone that has helped me along the way,” said Martin. 

During the 2022-23 season, Martin split time in the NAHL with the Windigo and the Minot Minotauros. In 29 games with the Windigo, he recorded 33 points and while with the Minotauros he posted 12 points in 27 games played. 

During the 2021-22 season, Martin played in the NAPHL’s T1ER League for the Biggby Coffee 18U team. In 8 T1ER games that season, he recorded 11 points and in 25 games played overall, he had 32 points. 

Martin also played in the NAPHL during the 2018-19 season for the Meijer AAA (now Biggby Coffee) 15U team. 

He is now the 10th player on the 2023-24 Windigo roster who is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey.
