Apr 5, 2024

The Copper Island Hockey Club (dba/Wisconsin Windigo) is pleased to announce that Cole Mickel, former Windigo captain and current NCAA Division 1 hockey player, will join the organization as a Business Development and Marketing Intern. Cole will be responsible for acquiring new corporate sponsors, planning and scheduling special events, promotion development, and season ticket sales for the upcoming season.  He will also engage in business analytics and help coach the Windigo summer hockey camp. “The internship opportunity will help elevate our organization, enhance the sponsor experience and aligns with our mission to grow the outreach and support of the Wisconsin Windigo within the Eagle River and North Central Wisconsin community,” offered David Rowe, co-owner and managing partner of the Copper Island Hockey Club.

Cole is enthusiastic about joining the Windigo front office, stating, “I am excited to begin my business career with the same team I ended my junior hockey career. The Windigo is a best in class organization, and I am looking forward to contributing to their growth and gain valuable experience throughout this journey.” Rowe added, “Cole was a capable leader as a player for the Windigo last season.  His dedication and determination will be a beneficial addition to the front office. Cole will bring vibrant energy and an inquisitive mind to our corporate operations team.”

Cole is majoring in Sports Management with a minor in Finance at Niagara University, where he just concluded his first season of college hockey for the Niagara University Purple Eagles in the NCAA D-1 Atlantic Hockey Association.  He plans to graduate with an undergraduate degree in 2026 and pursue a Master of Science in Sports Management degree during his last year of college hockey eligibility in 2027. During his free time, Cole can be found on the golf course and enjoying quality time with friends and family.

Please join us welcoming Cole back to the Windigo family!
