The Minnesota Magicians are excited to announce that forward Mitch Slattery has committed to play Division I hockey at Northern Michigan University of the Western Collegiate Hockey Conference (WCHA).
Slattery is a native of Lino Lakes, Minnesota who was a prep star and State Tournament participant at Hill-Murray High School. Following his prep career, he spent a year in the United States Hockey League (USHL) before landing in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He joined the Minnesota Magicians for the 2nd half of the 2015-16 season and had 19 points in 28 games played. This season, Slattery was the team’s top offensive performer and set a franchise record with 59 points on 20 goals and 39 assists. He was also named an assistant captain and was invited to participate in the annual NAHL Top Prospects event in February.
Magicians Head Coach Scott Meyer said of the commitment, “We are very excited for Mitch and the opportunity NMU has provided him. Mitch is an extremely talented player that lead our team last year. The Magicians family looks forward to watching him compete at the D1 level!”
Announcing his commitment on Twitter, Slattery said, “I can’t thank all my family, friends, and coaches enough for all the support they have given me throughout my junior hockey career. To the ones with doubts, thank you for the motivation. Fired up to be a Wildcat!” He will enroll at Northern Michigan in the fall of 2017.
