October 11 Game Recap

Oct 11, 2013

The Minnesota Magicians faced off against the Minnesota Wilderness this Friday, October 11, in one of 12 regular season matchups between the two teams this season.  Richfield Ice Arena was electrified by an action packed evening.  Kyle Krueger scored the game’s first goal assisted by Logan Von Ruden and Eetu Karvinen.  At the end of one period of play, the Magicians led 1-0, outshooting the Wilderness 9-5 in the process. In the middle frame, Brent Bockman of the Wilderness evened the score at 1-1.  After two periods, the Wilderness were outshooting the Magicians 18-13.  The Black and Red picked up some momentum early in the third period as Denis Shevyrin set-up Eetu Karvinen for a go ahead goal.  Then, with the Magicians leading 2-1, Colin Hernon burned the defense and set-up Tony Uglem to make the game 3-1. The Magicians gave up a power play goal late in the third period, but it would not be enough for The Wilderness, as the Magicians controlled the pace the rest of the way outshooting Cloquet 14-10 and escaping with a hard fought 3-2 victory.  The Magicians will continue the series on October 12 at Northwood’s Credit Arena for the second leg of the home and home series.
