PROSPECT REPORT: Alex Stevens

Jun 23, 2015

A 2nd Round (#37 Overall) pick by the Minnesota Magicians in the 2015 North American Hockey League (NAHL) Draft, Alex Stevens is a defenseman who played 3 years of varsity hockey at Wayzata High School of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) during his prep career.  As a senior last season, Stevens was a veteran leader on the Wayzata blue line. In 25 games played through the regular season and playoffs, he scored 6 goals to go along with 11 assists.

Magicians Head Coach Tom Upton said of Stevens, "Alex has been one of the top high school hockey defensemen in the state of Minnesota for the past couple years. He is a big kid who plays hard and defends extremely well. He is a smart player who can move the puck effectively up the ice and get shots through from the point. He comes from one of the top programs in the state in Wayzata and knows how to conduct himself as a student and athlete. He will fit in perfectly with our culture and expectations on and off the ice with the Magicians and we are excited to help him develop to get to the next level."

Stevens will compete for a spot  on the Magicians initial 2015-2016 roster in late July at the Magicians Main Camp at Richfield Ice Arena. Stay up to date with all the latest news and information on Minnesota Magicians hockey by following the team on Facebook and Twitter!
