Weekend Preview: Back From Holiday Break

The Magicians return from the Holiday Break, sitting in 4th place in the Midwest Division but just two points out of 2nd place. The Magicians will start the second half of their season with three road games. First, the will head to Janesville to take on the Jets Thursday and Friday then will head on up to Cloquet to take on the Minnesota Wilderness on Sunday. The Magicians will look to pick up three keys wins to close 2017 on a good note.

About the Jets:

The Jets are currently 2nd in the Midwest Division with a record of 17-8-2 (36 points). Last time out, the Magicians split with the Jets but the Jets currently lead the season series, four games to two.

Jets To Watch:

#68 Forward Jakov Novak – Novak is a commit of Bentley University and leads the Jets in points this season. His 30 points (12G 18A) are good for 7th best in the entire NAHL.

#9 Forward Tanner Polglaze – Polglaze is committed to Michigan Tech and will head there next season. His has 17 points (3G 14A) for the Jets this season, which third best on their team.

About the Wilderness:

The Wilderness sits in the 3rd spot in the jam-packed Central Division with a record of 14-12-3 (31 points). The Wilderness have had the advantage over the Magicians so far this season winning two of three.

Wilderness to Watch:

#11 Forward Luke Dow – Dow is a former Duluth East Greyhound and is second on the Wilderness in points with 22 (6G 18A). Watch for Dow on the power-play as he has 9 power-play points.

Who’s Hot for the Magic?

Arturas Laukaitis – Against the Chill Laukaitis had the shootout game-winner on Friday and on Saturday he netting two goals for a productive weekend. Laukaitis was the weekend’s 1st star. Laukaitis has six goals on the season and leads the team with +9 rating.

Isaiah Saville – Before the break against the Coulee Region Chill, Saville had 2 wins, 1 shutout, 53 saves, .93 GAA and .964 SV% in what was a very impressive weekend for the Alaskan net-minder.
