Weekend Preview: Road Trip to Springfield

The NAHL playoff race is heating up. The Magicians currently sit in the final playoff (4th place) spot in the Midwest Division with a 21-19-5 record (47 points). Starting Thursday night, the Magicians will battle the Springfield Jr. Blues for a three-game set. The Blues sit in 3rd in the Midwest Division with a record of 22-19-4 (48 points). This will be a key road trip for the Magicians playoff push and to see where they will end up in the NAHL playoff race. This year against the Blues, the matchup has been fairly even with season series at three games to two in favor of Springfield. The Magicians will look to steal a few games on the road and jump back into the 3-seed for the NAHL Playoffs.

Blues To Watch:

#17 Ethan Stewart – The Veteran forward, Ethan Stewart leads the Blues in points with 34 (17G 17A). So far this season, Stewart has six points in five games against the Magicians.

#15 Fabio Hollenstein – Hollenstein leads the Blues in assists this season with 20. On top of that, he has added 7 goals giving him 28 points on the year. Hollenstein has been hot as of late, tallying eight points in his last five games.

Who’s Hot for the Magic?

Jarrett Lee – Lee currently leads the Magic in points with 31 (11G 20A). He is scoreless in his last four but against the Blues, Lee has five points (3G 2A) in five games. The Magicians will look to Lee to spark the offense this weekend in Springfield.

John Keranen – Four points in his last five games, Johnny Keranen continues to play well for the Magicians. Johnny has 26 points this season and is currently tied for the team lead in goals with 12.
