Weekend Preview: Three-Game Slate Against Midwest Divisional Teams

The Magicians currently sit 4th in the Midwest Division (the final playoff spot) but are just one point behind the 3rd position held by the Springfield Jr. Blues. Thursday night, the Magicians will hit the road to take on the Coulee Region Chill, a team that they 6-0 against this season.

Friday and Saturday the Magicians will battle the second place team in the Midwest Division, Janesville Jets, at Richfield Ice Arena. The Jets are a team that the Magicians have struggled with this season only pick two wins in their six matchups this year. The Magic will look to turn that around and pick some crucial points in the Division this weekend.

Chill To Watch:

#13 Tomas Vochozka – The rookie forward, Tomas Vochozka has been a bright spot for the Chill. He is third on the team in scoring with 28 points (8G 20A) and has six points in his last five games.

#9 Marshal Plunkett – Plunkett has the second most points for a defenseman for Chill. He has 27 points (11G 16A) on the season and also has six points in his last five games.

Jets To Watch:

#8 Brenden Maclaren – Maclaren made his commitment to play division one hockey at Ferris State University earlier this week. He is currently fifth on the Jets in scoring with 19 points (10G 9A).

#68 Jakov Novak – Novak is a commit of Bentley University and leads NAHL with 53 points (25G 28A). Last time the Magicians battled the Jets, Novak had four points in two games.

Who’s Hot for the Magic?

Brendan Skarda – The veteran forward, scored two goals for the Magicians last weekend. He now has 26 points (11G 15A) this season, which third most on the team. He now sits 3rd All-Time with 61 points in his career with the Magicians.

John Keranen – Keranen had two assists last weekend, which brings his point total to 24 (11G 13A) on the year. He has played well against the Jets all season tallying four points in the six games.

Other News

This past week the Magicians had seven players named to the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament that will take place later this month in Plymouth, Michigan. Brendan Skarda, Cam Buhl, and Charlie Weiand will play for Team Midwest. While Kyler Grundy, Calvin Dybicz, Jarrett Lee and Ben Schultheis will play for the NAHL Selects.
