Weekend Recap: Magic Earn a Split Against the Bruins

This weekend the Magicians battled the Austin Bruins in a home-and-home series. Friday night, at Richfield Arena the offense came alive, as the Magicians were able to net five goals including two goals from Jackson Nauss and Brendan Skarda. The Magicians skated away with a 5-1 victory to start off the weekend.

#17 Jackson Nauss PC: Nick Wosika

Saturday night the team travel to Austin and the result was flip-flopped. Arturas Lukaitis netted a goal for the Magicians but that was the only one and they fell by a score of 5 to 1. Isaiah Saville played well in net making 30 saves.

3 Stars of the Weekend:

1st Star: Jackson Nauss – 2 goals

Jackson Nauss scored two goals on Friday night including a shorthanded goal and the game winner. Nauss has three goals on the season and they have all come in the last two weeks. The kid is getting hot when it matters most.

#10 Brendan Skarda

2nd Star: Brendan Skarda – 2 goals

The former Minnetonka Skipper netted two goals on Friday night giving him 11 goals on the season. Skarda also moved into third All-Time on the Magicians’ career scoring list with his 60th point in a Magicians’ sweater. He now sits just eight points behind, second All-Time, Travis Brown.

3rd Star: Calvin Dybicz – 2 assists

Calvin Dybicz had a 2-assists performance on Friday night, bringing his season total to 13 assists, which 5th most on the Magicians. The Michigan State recruit now has 5 assists in his last 5 games.

What’s Next?

The Magicians will return to action with a road contest on Thursday night against the Coulee Region Chill. Friday and Saturday the Magic will be back at Richfield Ice Arena for two-game series against the Janesville Jets, who currently sit in the 2nd position in the Midwest Division and could be a future playoff matchup for the Magicians.
