Weekend Recap: Magicians Bring Out the Brooms Against the Brown Bears

Dec 17, 2017

This past weekend, the Magicians welcomed in the Kenai River Brown Bears to Richfield for a two-game set. It was the first weekend with Ben Weiand as the Magicians Head Coach.

Friday night was a high blood-pressure game, as the teams were tied at two at the end of regulation. In the 3-on-3 overtime, both teams had chances but no one found the back of the net. Next, a shootout. The 8-round shootout ended with a goal from Arturas Laukaitis to give the Magicians the victory. Isaiah Saville picked up the win in net with 25 saves plus five more in the shootout.

Saturday night the Magicians struck early, as Calvin Dybicz scored on the power play to send the teddy bears flying over the glass on Teddy Toss night. The scoring did not stop there for the Magicians, they went to score four more goals, including 2 from Laukaitis, to win 5-0 and sweep the Brown Bears. Saville picked up his first shutout of the season stopping all 28 shots he faced.

It was a great weekend for the Magicians, heading into the holiday break.
