Weekend Recap: Magicians Holding onto the Final Playoff Spot

The Magicians had a three-game week starting on Thursday night against the Coulee Region Chill. The Magicians received goals from Passarelli, Skarda, and Scheerer but fell to the Chill 4-3.

The Magicians were able to bounce back on Friday night against the Janesville Jets. The Magic picked up only one goal from Carter Breitenfeldt but that’s all the needed as Isaiah Saville register his second shutout of the season with a 26-save performance.

On Saturday, the Magicians got off to a quick start and had a 1-0 lead after the first period but let the lead slip away as the Jets scored three straight goals and took the second game of the series by a score of 3-1. Saville made 31 saves in net.

3 Stars of the Weekend:

1st Star: Isaiah Saville – 1 Shutout 1.50 GAA .950SV% 57 Saves

Saville played great all weekend. He stopped 57 of 60 shots he faced and picked up a shutout-win against the Jets on Friday night.

2nd Star: Johnny Keranen – 1 Goal 1 Assist

The former Delano Tiger picked up a goal and assist during the weekend, giving him 26 points this season. He is tied for the team lead in goals with 12 and 6th on the team in assist with 14.

3rd Star: Carter Breitenfeldt – 1 Goal (GWG)

Breitenfeldt scored the Magicians’ game-winning goal on Friday night against the Jets. Breitenfeldt now has 24 points this season, including 17 assists which is second best on the team.

What’s Next?

The Magicians have an extremely important road-weekend ahead. The Magic will head down to Springfield and face the Springfield Jr. Blues, who sit just ONE POINT in front of them in the standings, for a 3-game set. Catch all the action on HockeyTV!
