Weekend Recap: Magicians’ Offense Struggles

The Magicians had three games over the Thanksgiving week and struggled to find the back of the net in all three contests.

On Wednesday night, the team traveled to Cloquet and were defeated 4-1 by the Minnesota Wilderness. Matt Denman picked up the only goal for the Magic and Saville had 27 saves.

Saturday and Sunday the Magicians were home versus the Springfield Jr. Blues. Saturday the Magicians had a 1-0 lead heading into the third but ended up falling 3-2 with the Blues scoring three goals in a four-minute timespan during the third period. Sunday the offense continued to struggled as the Magicians outshot the Blues 38-25 but fell by a score of 4-0. McBey has 21 saves in net for the Magicians.

3 Stars of the Weekend:

1st Star: Arturas Laukaitis – 1 goal 1 assist

Laukaitis had a goal and an assist in Saturday night’s game against the Blues. Laukaitis is from Moscow, Russia and has seven points in 15 games since joining the Magicians.

2nd Star: Matt Denman – 1 goal 1 assist

Denman continues to have a very productive season on the blueline for the Magicians. He scored the Magicians lone goal on Wednesday night and leads the team with 19 points this year.

3rd Star: Jarrett Lee – 1 goal

Lee leads the team with nine goals on the year and has six goals in the month of November.

What’s Next?

The Magicians will travel to the Coulee Region on Thursday night to take on the Chill and then will be back home on Saturday night to once again battle CRC, who they are 3-0 against this season.
