The Magicians once again hit the road this weekend for a two-game series versus the first place, Janesville Jets.
On the first night, we saw the incredible Isaiah Saville steal the show. Saville was able to make 41 saves on 42 shots and the Magicians pulled out a 2-1 victory. Saturday we saw another tight-checking game between two hungry teams. The Jets were able to capitalize on a power play goal from John Pesek in the second period, which ended up being the game-winner in a Jets 2-1 win.
The Magicians currently sit 3rd in the Midwest Division with a record of 9-5-1-1 (20 points). Ahead of the are the Fairbanks Ice Dogs with 21 points and Janesville Jets with 24 points.
3 Stars of the Weekend:
1st Star: Isaiah Saville – 1W 74 saves .961 SV%
As mention before, Saville won that game for the Magicians on Friday night. 41 saves on 42 shots, including stopping all 23 Jets’ shot in the third period. It was big saves one after another. Saville came back on Saturday night and continued to play well, 33 saves on 35 shots.
2nd Star: Jarrett Lee – 2 Goal
Lee scored in both nights for the Magicians. He starting the scoring for the Magic of Friday and scored the Magicians only goal on Saturday night. It was a solid weekend for the Hibbing, MN native.
3rd Star: Davis Kirkendall – 1 Goal
Kirkendall netted the game-winning goal for the Magicians on Friday night. It was his 4th goal of the season, which already matches his season total from last year.
What’s Next?
The Magicians have played seven straight road games, they have gone 5-2-0 and they will head to the Coulee Region on Thursday night for their final road game of this eight-game road trip before return home Friday and Saturday night for their first home games in almost a month!
Friday night the Magicians take on in-state rival Minnesota Wilderness. It is the Diaper Drive night supporting the Diaper Bank of Minnesota. If you bring a box of diapers (Or more 🙂 ), receive half price tickets. Puck drop is 7:15!
Saturday night the Magicians will once again battle with the Wilderness. It’s Ladies Night, Come to Richfield Ice Arena for a night of exciting hockey plus game-night specials, including drink discounts!
