Weekend Recap: Wings Fly High in Richfield

The Magicians dropped two games this weekend against the Aberdeen Wings but were able to pick up a point on Saturday night with a 6-5 overtime loss.

Friday, the Magicians jumped out to an early 2-0 with two goals from forward, Cam Buhl but were not able to hold on to it as the Wings put up 4 unanswered goals to win 4-2.

The Magicians still hold the 4th spot in the Midwest Division and are only three points behind the Springfield Jr. Blues heading into their off weekend. The Magicians next game will be January 19th & 20th against the Janesville Jets at Richfield Ice Arena.

3 Stars of the Weekend:

1st Star: Charlie Weiand – 1 goals 1 assists

Charlie had a goal and assists on Saturday night in the Magicians overtime loss. Charlie played heavy minutes and blocked many shots all weekend long for the Magic. With 2 points this weekend, Charlie has 15 (5G 10A) on the year, which leads all Magicians’ defensemen.

2nd Star: Matt Stanton – 2 assists

The former Stillwater Pony picked up an assist both Friday and Saturday. Stanton now has 10 points since joining the Magicians, 9 of which are assists.

3rd Star: Cam Buhl – 2 goals

Buhl netted two goals in the first period on Friday night’s game and was buzzing the entire weekend. Buhl now has 8 goals on the year, which 4th best on the Magicians.
