This upcoming weekend, the Wisconsin Windigo are set for their final series of the calendar year, as they will host the division-leading Minnesota Wilderness. The series will begin Friday, Dec. 19 at 7:25 PM CST before it wraps up Saturday, Dec. 20 at 7:15 PM CST.
In Wisconsin’s last series, the Windigo were swept by the visiting Anchorage Wolverines, who handed the Windigo their first losing series since Oct. 3 & 4. Wisconsin lost the opening battle 5-4 before a cold start led them to a 6-3 loss. During the weekend, Windigo skaters Josh Sardo, Michael Ryan, Alexios Georgaklis and Brendan Finley led the team offensively with three points or more.
In Minnesota’s last series, they traveled to Chippewa Falls for a series against the Steel. The Wilderness swept both games, including an 8-2 win to open the series.
Despite the recent pair of losses, the Windigo are the only team in the Midwest Division that hasn’t lost to the Wilderness and currently have a 4-0-0 record against them this season. Across the four games, the Windigo are outscoring Minnesota 18-12 and have won all of the series’ decisive moments, including an overtime win in the first meeting between the two sides.
In the Midwest Division standings, the Windigo are currently 16-11-1 across 28 games and rank fourth among the eight teams in the division. The Wilderness enter Friday’s game at 18-6-2 through 26 games.
In the stat department, the Windigo are led by forward Teddy Richardson, who recorded two assists last weekend to raise his season total for points to 33 through 25 games. In his last game against the Wilderness, he went off for four goals. Wisconsin has 11 different forwards with double-digit points this season, with Sardo, who has 12 points in just 15 games, joining the club last weekend.
Friday’s puck drop is set for 7:25 PM CST with doors opening one hour before. Tickets for each game can be purchased from the team’s website and can also be accessed using this link. If you can’t be there in person, all Windigo home and away games can be streamed on NATV. Visit nahltv.com for more details.
